Personal Noise Dose Meter (PNDM)

Protect your employees to ensure their hearing isn't exposed above occupational health and safety legal noise pollution limits.

Tardis continues to supply devices into the Military sector that offer a unique solution to problem areas. The latest product is PNDM which has been designed for personal noise dose management in the work place offering protection to the wearer by recording their exposure to ambient noise levels above the occupational health and safety legal noise pollution limits. (A complete range of statistics will be downloadable from the recorded data. This device works for Military areas, civil workplace, and secure environments anywhere noise at work needs to be monitored.)

A new generation of intelligent hearing protection devices to manage the levels of sound pollution exposure to military and other workers in operational sites.

Features of the Tardis-PNDM:

  • Battery time 160 hours / 4 working weeks
  • Comply to the 'Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (UK)'
  • Complies to international standards: IEC 61672-1, IEC 61252
  • View instantaneous noise level and total exposure daily on the LCD display
  • Produce a daily report and stats of the work environment by downloading data
  • Default 8 hour day, adjustable in menu
  • Tamper proof facility
  • Low power radio function – base station mounting
Benefits of Tardis-PNDM:

  • Charged using USB
  • Bright LED for dose warning
  • Contains weighting filters to mimic the frequencies heard by the human ear:
A-weighting | The most common weighting that is used in noise measurement is A-Weighting. Like the human ear, this effectively cuts off the lower and higher frequencies that the average person cannot hear.

C-weighting | The response of the human ear varies with the sound level. At higher levels, 100 dB and above, the ear's response is flatter, as shown in the C-Weighted Response to the right.

Z-weighting | Is a flat frequency response of 10Hz to 20kHz ±1.5dB. This response replaces the older "Linear" or "Un-weighted" responses as these did not define the frequency range over which the meter would be linear.

  • Calibrated during manufacture
  • Data logging – Sound/temperature/humidity/movement
  • No USB Drivers required to download data
  • Class 2 sound level meter
  • Includes movement and orientation monitor
  • Built in or External Microphone - allows the device to be safely pocketed.
Reasons for the PNDM technology:

PNDM is the new approach to personal sound exposure to enhance personal hearing management (Noise at Work Regulations 2005).
